🗣 Setting the scene
Modern Bulgarian life runs on opinions. People debate politics, prices, cities, schools, traditions, football, the euro, Sofia traffic, and whether life is better in the capital or in the provinces. If you want to sound natural in Bulgaria, you need more than vocabulary: you need ways to agree, soften disagreement, and ask others what they think without sounding abrupt.
This lesson is where conversation starts to feel real. It teaches not only how to express a view, but how Bulgarians actually negotiate difference in everyday talk.

Disagreeing — politely and directly
How to push back without offending.
Disagreeing politely in Bulgarian often starts with acknowledging the other person's point before introducing your own. Direct contradiction is possible but can sound blunt — the softeners below make disagreement sound natural and respectful.

- Write your opinion on one of these topics using at least 5 opinion phrases: (a) learning Bulgarian (b) living in a big city (c) the importance of traditions.
- Translate: "In my opinion, Bulgarian culture is fascinating. I am not entirely sure why, but I think it is because of the history."
- Rewrite "I don't agree" in three different ways — from direct to diplomatic.
- Write a short dialogue where two people disagree politely about whether Bulgaria is a good country to live in.
