💡 Why this matters
Complex sentences are what make Bulgarian sound mature and connected. They matter in essays, oral exams, explanations, narratives, and real-life conversations where ideas are linked rather than dropped as short statements.
Day 57 should help learners move from isolated clauses to natural chains of reason, time, contrast, and purpose.
Section 1
Purpose clauses — за да
Expressing why something is done.
Purpose clauses ("in order to", "so that") use за да + present tense. Same subject = за да + verb. Different subject = за да + different subject + verb. This is one of the most frequent complex structures in Bulgarian.

At B1 level you should be able to combine multiple clause types in a single sentence. Here are examples of how the structures from this course combine:

- Write 5 sentences using за да (purpose clause) — all with different subjects.
- Write one sentence each using: макар че, въпреки че, докато, след като, веднага щом.
- Combine these into one complex sentence: "I bought a book. I wanted to learn history. The book was very interesting. I read it quickly."
- Translate: "Although I did not speak Bulgarian when I arrived, after I started taking lessons I improved very quickly, so that within six months I was able to hold a basic conversation."
